A United Nations legal expert has called for Western media to be investigated over their role in “obscuring” news coverage of the clashes on Friday between Israeli forces posing as football fans and locals in the Dutch city of Amsterdam.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, said that Western media has repeatedly disseminated disinformation which has served to conceal the atrocities that were being carried out by the Israelis across the globe.
“Once again, Western media should be investigated for the role they are playing in obscuring Israel’s atrocities,” the Italian international lawyer said.
The legal scholar, researcher, and author specializing in human rights and Arab refugee issues said media figures who disseminate false news are complicit in Israeli crimes and should be held accountable.
“In other contexts, international tribunals have found media figures responsible for complicity, incitement, and other international crimes.”
The call by the UN expert came after some Western media outlets failed to report on or minimize the actions of the Israeli thugs posing as fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv ahead of and during the violence on Thursday and Friday............more.........

Putin began his address referring to the October 1917 revolution, drawing a direct parallel with our turbulent times: “The moment of truth is coming”. In a clear tribute to Gramsci, he stated how a “completely new world order” is “being formed before our eyes.”
The subtle reference to the recent BRICS summit in Kazan could not possibly escape critical minds across the Global Majority. Kazan was a living, breathing testimony that “the old order is irrevocably disappearing, one might say, has already disappeared, and a serious, irreconcilable struggle is unfolding for the formation of a new one. Irreconcilable, first of all, because this is not even a fight for power or geopolitical influence, this is a clash of the very principles on which relations between countries and peoples will be built at the next historical stage.”
As concisely as possible, that should be taken as the current Big Picture framework: we are not mired inside a reductionist clash of civilizations or the “end of History” – which Putin defined as “myopic” - but facing a make-or-break systemic clash of fundamental principles. Back in the day, a liberal Jewish cartoonist named Herbert Block (pen name “Herblock”) gave every new president a free shave. In the case of Richard Nixon, whom he usually portrayed with a very heavy late-in-the-day beard even at dawn, this was seen at the time as giving him – editorially speaking – a fresh start.
These days, I expect Herblock would at least give Donald Trump a free haircut, no matter how much he disliked his politics. For my part, I consider presidential elections to be orchestrated and I believe voting matter little in the grand scheme of things. Nonetheless, Trump deserves a measure of respect for transcending what he and his family and friends endured in recent years. I’d be willing to clean Herblock’s clippers and sweep up after he was done. Nor will I soon forget Melania Trump’s smile – I’ll bet she has a list or three.

Many people are using terms like “landside,” “steamroller” and “decisive win” to describe Trump’s and the GOP’s success in the November elections. It was none of these things. I myself have been wondering how Trump was going to make America great again when he supports Israel’s genocidal wars. How is a country great, especially in a moral and spiritual sense, when it provides the money and weapons used by Israel to genocide Palestine, to bomb women and children in Lebanon, and to attack Iran in the belief that Washington will come to Israel’s rescue?
No such country can be great.
Moreover, no such country can be disengaged from war. It seems the US military/security complex expects to keep the war profits flowing by committing Trump to a war with Iran. There are plenty of Washington-hardened Zionist neoconservatives in positions of power and influence in Washington to override resistance to the war agenda........more........
