NATO will need between 35 and 50 extra brigades to fully realise its new plans to defend against an attack from Russia, a military source told Reuters.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, declined to provide any more detail about the plans, which are secret. A brigade consists of between 3,000 and 7,000 troops, so generating 35 to 50 more such units would present a significant challenge..

In another sign of the scale of NATO’s challenge as it revamps its posture to take the threat of a Russian attack more seriously following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, a security source said Germany alone would have to quadruple its air defence capacities.

At a summit in Vilnius last year, NATO leaders agreed on the alliance’s first major defence plans in more than three decades, and officials have been working on translating the documents into concrete military demands since then.

NATO leaders are expected to get an update on the plans in Washington this week, at a summit to mark the 75th anniversary of the transatlantic security alliance.

Asked for comment, a NATO official said the alliance’s military planners had identified “detailed requirements for troops and weapons needed to defend the alliance”.

“Air and missile defences, long-range weapons, logistics as well as large land manoeuvre formations are among our top priorities,” the official added..

“NATO will likely set more demanding capability targets for allies, as we develop forces that can implement our plans and meet the threats we face. We are confident that our deterrence is and will remain strong.”........more.........

My grandparents and their families, faced with a choice between certain death if they stayed in Germany and possible life if they could get out, did the best they could to leave. I am one of the results of those efforts, but there were other effects. Some of my ancestors committed suicide when they realised what their beloved Germany had become; others never recovered from the feeling of non-belonging caused by the flight from their homeland.

Two Germanies lived on in my grandparents’ and great-grandparents’ memories. Alongside the horror, evil and chaos there was the land of Beethoven, Hesse and Mann; of science, wealth and entrepreneurialism, of exacting industrial design and of order and civilisation.

Both those Germanies are now dead: the evil, genocidal one and the glorious land of order, culture and beauty.

What is left is one of Europe’s ropiest nations, bowed by decades of poor political decisions, bad management and artistic and industrial decline. Fans in Frankfurt for the Euros have found a city of drug-addled zombies, broken fountains and unbridled crime.

From Volkswagen, which never recovered from the emissions scandal of 2015, to Deutsche Bahn, which has some of the worst punctuality records in Europe (only 52 per cent of trains run on time) and a rolling stock whose problems make Britain’s railways seem advanced, Germany’s traditional once-great industrial prowess has been replaced by shambolic third-ratism.

The problems go deeper. Last week, German midfielder Toni Kroos, who moved to Spain to play for Real Madrid ten years ago, said he felt his seven-year-old daughter was safer in Spain than in his homeland because of “uncontrolled” migration.

These were not the bombastic Right-wing comments assumed by critics – Kroos stressed that he was “1000 per cent” in favour of welcoming migrants and that “I find that sensational, that people come to us from the outside and then are happy.”........more........

If you thought it wouldn’t be possible for former President Donald Trump to pick a running mate that gun-ban groups would hate as much as Trump himself, well, think again.

On Monday, Trump named Republican U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate in his quest for a second term. And a look at Vance’s record on guns and gun control reveals that he is a very strong proponent of gun owners’ rights.

“Joe Biden and anti-democracy multinational companies are trying to find new ways to take guns away from law-abiding citizens,” Vance said when running for the Senate in 2021. “They’re making it harder to buy firearms and ammunition, and imposing new, unconstitutional regulations on American citizens. I will fight the gun grabbers, whether they’re federal bureaucrats enacting regulations or multinational companies punishing people for exercising their rights.”

In a guest column for the Columbus Dispatch in July 2021, Vance wrote of growing up using firearms and of an “unholy alliance” coming for our guns.

“Worryingly, perhaps the biggest threat to the Second Amendment comes not from the Biden Administration, but from some of our biggest companies,” Vance wrote. “Unfortunately, the unholy alliance between government and business won’t stop at the Second Amendment. Eventually, they’ll come for other cherished American liberties, too.”

The next year, Vance questioned whether limiting access to guns would have any effect at all on gun violence, which he said was tied to “inner-city urban crime” and which he said until recently dropped generally over decades during a time when guns became more widely available.

“None of us like the school shootings,” he told Breitbart News. “None of us likes the fact that if you live near a big city, you hear about gun violence nearly every week. So, we have to not take the left’s bait and say, ‘Well, this is going to make us safer at the expense of our Second Amendment rights.’ I don’t think it’s going to do either.”............more........

In my previous article, Why you should never believe your eyes, we discussed new technologies that make the creation of literal “fake news” more possible than ever. In this follow up we’re going to discuss the potential benefits of faking the news vs creating the news.

A false flag operation is generally defined as ”an act committed with the intent of disguising the actual source of responsibility and pinning blame on another party”

The phrase originates in naval warfare, when ships would literally fly a flag of another nation’s navy.

Historically speaking, they are covert military operations carried out with the aim of creating a cassus belli, either initiating, justifying or perpetuating a war.

The attack is very real, only the flag is false.

But recent years have seen the rise of a new idea – the false false flag. That is to say – entirely fake “events” with only the barest relationship to objective reality. Blanks and crisis actors, fake victims and fake shooters.

This concept has been the subject of discussion recently, with the civil suit against Alex Jones for calling Sandy Hook a “hoax” and the on-going trial of journalist Richard D Hall in the UK for suggesting the Manchester Arena bombing was fake. Similar suggestions have been raised about the Boston bombing of 2013 as well. Others, including Riley Waggaman, have raised questions about the recent “terrorist attack” in Moscow too.

Now, I’m not definitively claiming any or all of those events were faked – though of course they may have been. What I’m pointing up is the shift in discussion........more........

Based on reports coming out late today, it looks like Chris nailed it. The local police had a three-man SWAT element inside the building where the shooter, who was on the roof, was located. That created some confusion for the counter snipers who were observing the shooter crawling up on the roof. We will have to wait for the communications to be released to know exactly what was said — the counter snipers probably were trying to confirm if the guy they were seeing was part of the group inside the building.

Still, this is a major screw up. There should have been a Rule of Engagement (ROE) in place stipulating that no friendlies would be on the roof. Or, maybe, the SWAT element was supposed to be on the roof and wimped out because of the heat. I stand by my original assertion — this was either major incompetence or something darker.

There is a document circulating on the web, allegedly written by one of the counter sniper’s, claiming he was not given permission to shoot. I have heard from other sources I trust that this is a fabrication. Again, we will have to wait until that man is brought before Congress and testifies under oath. Does not matter, though. Donald Trump is alive and kicking.

Channel 11 news uncovered dramatic new details Monday in the moments leading up to the assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump. According to multiple law enforcement sources, Thomas Crooks was spotted by law enforcement on a roof nearly 30 minutes before shots were fired that injured Trump, killed a former fire chief, and injured two others in the crowd.

Channel 11′s Nicole Ford confirmed that Beaver County’s ESU team had eight members at the rally, including snipers and spotters. According to Ford’s sources, one of them noticed a suspicious man on a roof near the rally at 5:45 p.m., called it in and took a picture of the person. We have learned from our sources the person in that picture is Thomas Crooks. We’re told it’s not clear if Crooks had a gun with him at that point.

According to multiple sources, a law enforcement officer had also previously seen Crooks on the ground and called him in as a suspicious person with a picture prior to 5:45 p.m. Our sources tell us an officer checked the grounds for Crooks at that point but did not see him where the first picture was taken. ........more........
