DJT was not saved by USSS brilliance. The fact that USSS allowed a rifle armed shooter within 150yds to a preplanned event is either malice or massive incompetence. Clearly there was adequate uncontrolled dead space for a shooter to move into position and take multiple aimed shots. Watching the newsreel one can hear how proximate the shooter is by the very short time lapse between the crack of arriving bullet (supersonic) to the boom of muzzle blast (sonic).

The law enforcement sniper (unclear if USSS) in newsreels was clearly overwhelmed as his face came off his rifle instead of doing his job to kill the shooter. Clearly they were watching the shooter but apparently have a no “first shot” policy.  The only positive action was an apparent 488yd shot by one USSS sniper which despatched the assasin but after the assassin launched at least 5 rounds, wounding DJT and killing and severely others in the crowd.........more.......

Will the attempted murder of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania the other day be framed as a “threat to our democracy” by the people who so regard not just Trump but also anyone who supports Trump?

And will Trump support “reasonable” restrictions on gun owners – that is to say, criminalization of gun ownership by people who didn’t take a shot at him or anyone else for that matter?

After all, he already has.

It was Trump who tried to ban bumpstocks, which you’ll you’ll recall aren’t even guns. They are attachments used by some to make it easier to fire a semi-automatic rifle faster (but not automatically fire). Why should that be illegal? More finely, why ought mere possession of a part of a gun be criminal? The Supreme Court agreed.

But the point is, Trump disagreed.

How about “due process later”? That is to say, seize the guns of people who aren’t criminals – by dint of the fact that they haven’t done anything illegal – on the basis of worry that they might.

Which is very wrong – if you don’t think it’s right to punish people who’ve not even been charged with (let alone convicted of) a criminal act. Perhaps Trump is now more sensitive to such persecution, having been the victim of it himself. All it took for a single Colorado bureaucrat to remove him from the primary ballot was the assertion that Trump was guilty of “insurrection.” Never mind that he’d yet to be convicted or even charged with this offense.........more.....

 i doubt that any of 'our' agencies are honest and working for the citizens. there are too many times they've been caught in lies even if unproven as too much evidence exists to refute;

As far as I’m concerned we should presume the FBI & Secret Service, if not the Biden Admin, were complicit in last night’s assassination attempt. That multiple Trump rallygoers reportedly told Secret Service agents about a suspicious man who ended up trying to assassinate Trump — & they failed to act — sadly suggests they were not actually focused on protecting his life.

Most Americans instinctively trust insistutions like the Secret Service. But the sad truth is it’s an agency that’s been corrupted just like the others.

JFK assassination researchers will tell you Secret Service agents were part of the plot. That this is just a conspiracy theory would be easier to believe had the Secret Service not destroyed so much evidence related to the assassination during the subsequent, years-long investigation. (Read “A Legacy of Secrecy” for more on that.) Of course, there’s never been anything like accountability since.

As a result, we shouldn’t be surprised at reports indicating the agency today is hopelessly politicized. To quickly recap:

The Secret Service … helped Hunter Biden get out of trouble after his wife threw away his gun.

A Secret Service agent … helped Hunter after, evidence indicates, he accidentally overpaid an escort service using his dad’s credit card.

And most of us already know the FBI is worse. The agency has never been above using violence to achieve its ends — research Cointelpro for a small sample of that — nor destroying evidence to coverup their misbehavior (again something that happened post-JFK assassination)............

“Wouldn’t a clear-eyed political calculus tell you it’s going to be much tougher to win in 2024?” Stephanopoulos asked Biden referring to the abysmal polls.

Biden issued a veiled threat.

“Not when you’re running against a pathological liar. Not when he hadn’t been challenged in a way that he’s about to be challenged,” Biden said with a sinister look on his face.
