this is enabled by bread and circuses like balloons and other such versions of diversion. look at the right hand while the left does the trick. the only solution at this point is for EVERYONE to show up at government buildings and demand a very large change but i suspect it won't happen because there's some new distraction causing us to look away, like the official outlets that tell us all about how free we are;

Food processing facilities burned down, water supply tainted, emergency fuel being sold off, electrical power grid attacks. What else does a country have left to stand on after such events? WE ARE UNDER ATTACK, but too distracted and cynical to see it.
