A Swiss journalist travels to Kiev to take the measure of the popularity of the regime that rules the remnants of Ukraine, and what he finds there is not really encouraging for anyone.

There are countless radio and television stations, but they all present a single point of view. All opposition stations in Ukraine have been shut down. Even a completely harmless discussion about the causes of the conflict can lead to criminal prosecution and actual prison sentences. Some journalists have managed to flee and are now operating from outside Ukraine. But they have only very limited influence on the people inside the country; I explained the reasons for this earlier.

The same applies to political organizations. They all conform to the prevailing opinion. In the Rada, the parliament, there are various parties, but only one political direction. There is no political force capable of considering all sides of the conflict and serving as a guide for the citizens of Ukraine.

Many readers will ask: How much support does the Ukrainian leadership have among the population?

None of the people I spoke with expressed open support for the Ukrainian leadership. For some, given their specific living circumstances, this can certainly be seen as an expression of personal resistance. Others simply want to hang in there and be left in peace. Still others, who openly supported the government just one or two years ago, are now conspicuously reluctant to make such statements.  78-year-old Ann Widdecombe was a well-known conservative in British politics. She was a staunch defender of free speech, a direct opponent to leftist cultural Marxism and an advocate for the commonsense Reform Party.  Widdecombe was against abortion, gay rights, transgender advocacy and wokism writ large. 

Ms. Widdecombe was beaten to death in her home Wednesday July 8th around 12:30pm by an assailant who drove 270 miles to kill her. Immediately the police said her murder was not politically motivated and not connected to foreign or domestic terrorism.

Despite the credulous claim that her brutal murder was not political in nature, the reality was her murderer drove over five hours to kill her. This was an obvious premeditated, calculated and targeted murder.  However, the politically correct leftist media and political institutions within U.K. government, were desperate in trying to deny the obvious.

Yesterday, the British Counterterrorism Police took over the investigation. “Shabana Mahmood, the home secretary, said that as a result of “new information and evidence,” specialist counterterrorism officers were “now leading on the investigation into the horrific murder.”” {citation}

Supreme Court Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Elena Kagan appeared on Capitol Hill to request a ten percent increase in Supreme Court budget spending.  The intent is to hire additional security to protect themselves from the outcome of their rulings.

Justice Barrett talked about the harrowing threats to herself and her family as the Court wants to bolster security.  The overall appearance before congress is slightly ironic considering the increase in threats is a direct consequence of court rulings that have opened borders, blocked deportation, stalled law enforcement, granted illegal aliens rights to citizenship and generally undermined our nation’s domestic tranquility............more............

The United States, according to Donald Trump’s letter to Congress, has started a new war with Iran. Apparently no one told the Orange Man that the US does not have enough weapons in its arsenal to pursue a campaign that lasts longer than a month.

Let’s start with some basics. The HIMARS is not a missile or rocket… It is a launcher. It has been reported that missiles fired from HIMARS hit the Iranian coast the last three days, i.e., Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There are three types of missiles/rockets that can be fired from the HIMARS:

PrSM (Precision Strike Missile) — its newer successor to ATACMS. The maximum range is 500+ km in its baseline Increment 1 form. It was deliberately designed to exceed 499 km, the old floor imposed by the INF Treaty before that treaty lapsed in 2019, and open-source estimates put its effective reach at roughly 500–600 km. Later increments are intended to extend it further, but the fielded version is the 500+ km baseline.

GMLRS (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System) — precision rockets. The baseline GMLRS Unitary and GMLRS Alternative Warhead both have a range of about 70 kilometers (roughly 45 miles). The newer GMLRS Extended-Range (GMLRS-ER) roughly doubles that, reaching targets up to 150 kilometers away.

ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) — longer-range ballistic missiles. The maximumrange is approximately 300 km. The early cluster-munition variants (M39) were shorter — around 165 km — but the GPS-aided unitary variants (M39A1, M48, M57) all reach out to about 300 km, which has been the program’s ceiling throughout its service life.........more.........
