i remember a quote read years ago that went something like: no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the american public. read the following and you will be introduced to a synopsis of how stupid they are and can be, in this case centering on the first amendment;

A Quick Primer on the First Amendment

First things first (pun intended), most folks don’t even know what the First Amendment protects.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The basis of freedom lies within that small paragraph.
