having once batted for their side i'm more aware of their game than many. its interesting to see spanberger getting the blowback that she's getting, and with success in opposing her fanaticism;
We’ve chronicled over the past few months how several different entities have filed lawsuits challenging Virginia’s new ban on so-called “assault weapons” and “high-capacity” firearm magazines.
Former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has filed a lawsuit challenging Virginia’s new assault weapons ban using the state’s Militia Clause. The suit argues that members of Virginia’s unorganized militia have a constitutional right to acquire commonly owned firearms necessary for militia service and that the ban unlawfully prevents citizens from obtaining those arms.
The Virginia ban Cuccinelli is challenging
In May, Gov. Abigail Spanberger signed into law a ban on so-called “assault firearms” declaring that “any person who imports, sells, manufactures, purchases, or transfers an assault firearm is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.” The law further defines an “assault firearm” as a semi-automatic rifle chambered in any caliber besides .22 rimfire or one that contains a litany of common features.
